While on our drive into Bushmills for dinner ( ie fish&chips ) we spotted this wonderful view. We had to find a high place on the road to stop and shoot. We stopped the car on the side of the road that leads up to the Gaint's Causeway causing a bit of a traffic jam. Who cares? A quick jump out of the car with camera in hand. No time to set up tripods, filters etc... Just a aperture adjustment to take care of the camera shake while hand holding the camera. Oh yes with was also raining as you might can gathered. The funny looks we got from passers-by as we walked back to our car.
The Skerries are a small group of island just of the coast of Ramore Head, Portrush, Co Antrim. You can also just about make out the Inishowen Peninsula, Co Donegal in the background.
Thats a very atmospheric shot, especially with the "stains" of falling rain. Bet the Fish & Chips was good too, thanks for sharing Neil:)
ReplyDeleteA grand, dramatic seascape.
ReplyDeleteLOOK at that light!!! the sunbeams..., stunning picture :-)
ReplyDeleteNice week from Anne in Norway.
This looks very heavenly to me, a dreamly image...
ReplyDeleteNot, the fish & chips though...lol
I know what it means to get the chance to have a moment like this, it is a wonder that we can keep it in a b+w shot.

I can tell you that the fish & chips were heavenly too.
ReplyDeleteA perfect shot, I love to see sunrays like this.
ReplyDeleteNeil -
ReplyDeleteExcellent shot. I haven't had a chance to process mine yet but I'll agree - the fish & chips tasted all the better for having that one in the bag.
Cheers,
Peter
Lovely .. I saw a similar sunset the other nite ...
ReplyDeleteLooks like the cloud contained a lot of rain... And would you believe it, it must have dropped by our place today cause it has been raining all day long here...Great shot though;-)
ReplyDeleteA majestic looking scene and worth getting a bit wet for.
ReplyDeleteAs long a you don't endanger others anything goes. I saw some photogs the other day parked on an overpass on a freeway to get some train shots. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Very dangerous.
Very dramatic image, looking more threatening and mysterious in monochrome than perhaps it did in colour.
ReplyDeleteIt´s absolutely gorgeous. Love it!
